As we get older, our hearing declines, little by little. And as it declines, it can cause cognitive decline and brain atrophy. But there ARE ways we can optimize and protect our hearing throughout our lifetime. And that all starts with knowing and tracking our hearing health, which can now be done easily with the free Hearing Number app (HearingNumber.org) and pair of headphones.
In a special video episode of Public Health On Call, Dr. Frank Lin, director of the Johns Hopkins Cochlear Center for Hearing and Public Health, explains what Hearing Numbers are, why everyone should track theirs annually, and how technology is helping to address impacts early and upend the stigma of hearing loss.
