The Hormuz energy crisis has been challenging energy security across Asia by curtailing Middle Eastern oil and gas supplies while driving up the cost of alternatives. In response, governments throughout the region have adopted a range of measures to strengthen energy security.
As the crisis enters its sixth month, this webinar series examines its long-term implications for energy policy across Asia's major subregions.
The second edition of this CSIS series will focus on China's energy strategy, which has attracted considerable attention in the wake of the Hormuz energy crisis. Beyond electrifying its transportation sector and shifting its power system away from hydrocarbons, the strategy encompasses building a large strategic oil stockpile and revitalizing domestic oil and gas production. China remains the world's largest importer of oil and gas, yet it has not had to introduce the demand control measures that many other Asian governments have been forced to adopt.
