They’ll tell you socialism is compassionate, that it cares about reducing poverty, that it seeks to abolish oppression. They’re lying.

Everywhere socialism has been tried, it has produced poverty, censorship, hunger, and death.

History makes this clear. Lenin’s War Communism brought economic activity to a halt. Stalin’s forced industrialization, including grain seizures in Ukraine, triggered a devastating famine. Mao Zedong’s Great Leap Forward killed tens of millions. In Cuba, entrepreneurial talent is suffocated under a rigid system of state rationing. In Venezuela, the regime persecutes, imprisons, or disappears its opponents.

These tragedies are not accidents. They are the predictable outcome of a system that suppresses individual rights and economic freedom. By contrast, free-market capitalism has been the greatest ally of workers and the poor, because economic liberty and secure property rights allow people to prosper by creating value.
