Explanation of interaction with MandJTV (copied from a rough draft of the script):
My first concern was, well, copying. I wanted to take a stab at the series for all the people who loved the format, and if Mikey wasn’t going to continue it himself, why couldn’t someone else. But I didn’t want anyone to get the wrong idea, so I was going to have to find a way to get the go ahead. It took some finagling but, I actually was able to get ahold of him!
LOOK OKAY, I KNOW YOU’RE LOOKING AT MY SUB COUNT AND HIS AND THINKING “THERE IS NO WAY YOU GOT THROUGH TO HIM” and… well. The frustrating part is, I did… but I can’t post proof? I got ahold of Mikey through my sources on February 8th at 12:38 AM the following message:

My name is Joseph! I'm sorry to reach out to you through unprofessional means such as these, but if you're willing to spare a moment I wanted to ask you something. Assuming this Mikey reading this, and not Grunty Boy sneaking into his belongings again, I wanted to ask you about your Pokemon Types Then Vs Now series. I recently watched your Elite Four team video and saw the comments of people who wanted more Then Vs Now videos but you replied expressing disinterest in continuing the series.
I recently started a YouTube channel, and to be quite honest, I'm really proud of the direction it's heading in. I've been a huge fan of yours for years now and you've been one of my major inspirations, and I'd really like to take a stab at the series in your stead. I'll link my latest video as a proof of concept I'm not just some kid with OBS and a phone mic, I really am passionate about it. You don't have to sign off on it right away, but would you be willing to give me a chance to present you with a mock up? If you'd be so kind, I really wanted to make it on Ice types, and an extra hail yeah out their in the universe never hurt anyone! Well... except flying types... regardless! Please let me know what you think.
If there's anything I'd want you to take from this is I'm a huge fan, and I'd love to follow in your footsteps. It would help me appeal to a larger audience as an up and comer which could really give me the boost I need to fight against the algorithm, and you could get a chance to leave the rest of the series in "hopefully" the right hands.

It was to my surprise that I got a response through my means on February 9th from someone on Mikey’s team who has asked to remain unnamed. He said the following:

After receiving that last message, I gave him a proper thanks and a promise that we wouldn’t disappoint! So here we are now!
