Even just mentioning the names "Israel", "the Westbank", etc. is enough to upset some people, because some people consider the entire land to be Israel, and others consider the entire land to be Palestine.
The Holy Land is the ancient Land of Israel in the Bible, and is holy to Jews (who consider it their homeland), Christians, and Muslims.
In 1948 The State of Israel was created in much of the land, to be the state of the Jewish people. And in the Six Day War of 1967, Israel seized the remainder of the land (the Westbank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem). The Palestinian Arabs see this as a massive land grab and the theft of their country, while Israeli Jews see the creation of Israel as the realization of their legitimate right to self-determination in their homeland.
In recent decades, Israel and the Palestinians have been negotiating a peace settlement based on separation: the 2 state solution which would divide the land into one Jewish state and one Palestinian Arab state. But when you look at a map of the settlements in the Westbank, such a separation would now be extremely complicated, with large Israeli communities situated right next to large Palestinian communities.
The geography is a lot more straightforward than the politics: this is one land inhabited by two nations of people who lives will remain intertwined.
