- While most city-states are shown, that does not mean all settlements are shown.
- While some people believe Teotihuacan built an empire all the way to Guatemala, most modern historians do not believe they ever conquered any of the Maya, only established economic connections with the elites. The group that overthrew Tikal and Copan was a warlord of Teotihuacano descent but not representing Teotihuacan itself.
