From its debut at WWDC 2014 as a developer-focused framework, through to the launch of the Home app in iOS 10, this period laid the foundations for everything Apple Home has become today. While adoption was slow and the ecosystem limited, Apple’s focus on privacy, security, and local control shaped the direction of the platform from day one.
In this video, we cover the early challenges, key milestones, and major platform changes including the introduction of the Home app, automations, Apple TV as a Home hub, software authentication, and the arrival of HomePod.
