Most drummers are trying harder than they need to in order to play quickly & smoothly on their hats - especially when playing a one-handed 16th pattern like you hear in “Africa” or “Rosanna.” And the result is a clumsy, cumbersome feel that just doesn’t work.
But the solution to this is simple…
I was stuck on this too at one time, until I discovered something that all the pros were doing with their hihats that I WASN’T.
Today I’m teaching you “The 2-point hihat adjustment that makes the biggest difference in your sound”, so that your hihat playing will sound better even in the next 15 minutes. The feel Jeff Porcaro creates in “Africa” will become much more achievable for you after today. YOU CAN DO THIS.
