In Episode 5 of The Hermit’s Shelf, I’m revisiting the quietly contemplative Hudes Tarot by Susan Hudes, published by U.S. Games Systems.

This is a deck with a distinctly medieval and Renaissance feel, blending soft watercolour artwork with antique maps, celestial charts and subtle symbolic details. It follows the Rider–Waite–Smith structure, yet carries a more introspective, almost autumnal mood. The imagery feels thoughtful and reflective, inviting a slower, more meditative style of reading.

In this episode, I take a fresh look at the artwork, symbolism and overall reading experience, and reflect on how my connection to this deck has evolved over time. Does it still whisper its wisdom as gently as it once did? And where does it sit now on my shelf?
