Hearpeers Mentor Eileen from Canada has always loved music and took her first piano lesson at the age of four, before learning drums, flute, guitar, vocals, and ukulele. Eileen started her first job as a piano teacher at age 16, just before she began to lose her hearing. When she was 25, Eileen chose to get a cochlear implant, and she is now a piano and vocal music teacher, in addition to her full-time job.
In September 2025, Eileen and eight other Hearpeers Mentors from around the world traveled to Innsbruck, Austria, to perform at the Hearpeers Anniversary Concert.
These hearing implant users took to the stage to showcase their musical talents, performing a range of genres, from Austrian folk music to self-composed Spanish rock ballads. The Hearpeers Anniversary Concert was a moving reminder of the life-changing potential of hearing implants.
