argentina is a nation-state with a deeply racist settler colonial history and that makes it -checks notes- just like basically every other nation-state in the americas. other latinos as well as northerners fixate on argentina from afar because 1. it has gotten more attention via its football club 2. its problems are an uncomfortable mirror to the rest of the continents' problems
