"The Hafu ハーフ Project" Chapter 3: 希望 WISH
The Japanese word "Hāfu ハーフ" - or "Half" in English - refers to people who are ethnically half Japanese, and is now used generally for multiethnic people in Japan.
This three part series features Japanese, Swedish and French art song matched with spoken Japanese and English.
This chapter is all about hopes for the future and our visions of who we hope to become. Each chapter features themes of culture, identity and remembrance, with hopes of introducing new language and experience.
This video is dedicated to everyone who undergone a journey of finding their identity. It is a story of resilience, but also of celebration.

Through artist-led learning, fostering creativity, and cultivating community, our artists bring music to life in the third year of the Civic Engagement Artist Residency.
The Cohort for 2022|23, includes soprano Natalya Gennadi, soprano Jaclyn Grossman, baritone Luka Kawabata, and tenor Pierre Luc Houde. These singers have been mentored by artists accomplished in a variety of performing arts disciplines through a process of creation, storytelling with voice, and authentic personal connection to song.
