There are simply dozens and dozens of narrators who don’t do this. I do voices to help differentiate between characters and sometimes I change the pitch of my voice for female characters or children. You might not like it, but whenever I don’t do this, I’ve had complaints from listeners saying they can’t differentiate between characters. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. I select stories that I like from my wide reading of vintage horror, supernatural and weird fiction. I don’t pretend that they are all masterpieces, but all, I believe, have something to recommend them. At least, I found something in them that resonated and which I thought was worth sharing.
