For the time being, what was previously known as, "The Great Highway" along Ocean Beach is currently closed to motor traffic on the weekends, but like cities with regular open streets programs, San Francisco opens what is now known as the Great Walkway to people on holidays as well, in this case, on a Veterans Day Thursday.
Ten minutes of car-free quiet, just beyond the motor traffic gate at Lincoln Way.
