Adafruit Industries | The Great Search: I2S DAC with Volume Control and Headphone Amp @DigiKey @Adafruit @adafruit | Uploaded September 2024 | Updated October 2024, 4 days ago.
Following up on last week's I2S line-level DAC without I2C control, we received a question about the opposite kind of chip: "Is there a good DAC partner with volume control and headphone amp you recommend? We were using the TLV320AIC23 but it was obsoleted. Closest we found so far was the Nuvoton NAU88C22."
A good question! It looks like this person was using the now-obsolete TLV320AIC23 (digikey.com/short/mtfwz0rq). Let's look for something that has what you want, including DigiKey's suggested alternatives. Thankfully, there are a lot of options. We will assume they want a QFN chip, something around $3, with -90db SNR and 16 ohm drive either capless or with blocking caps.
