A few years ago, I started noticing a lot of opportunities for free grapefruit in my area. Many people have trees, but either don't like them, can't eat them fast enough, or can't eat them due to medication conflicts. I took it upon myself to be the appreciator of grapefruit, and in the process, created my character Squashy Grapefruit (because the flattened oval shaped ones look so funny). Over the years of eating excessive amounts of grapefruit, it began to cause the enamel of my teeth to deteriorate since it is such an acidic fruit. At worst, it became painful to chew food. After getting my teeth repaired by the dentist, I decided to be more cautious of how much grapefruit I eat. I read that most of the harmful effects could be avoided by juicing them and drinking the juice through a straw so it never contacts your teeth. Thus the Grapefruit Squasher was born!

My juicer's dimensions were ~6" diameter for the tray, 4.5" for the plunger, and 3.75" for the dome. If I were to do this build all over again, I would buy 90mm (3.54"), 100mm (3.937"), and 150mm (5.905")... since the internet seems to like the metric system. At least 1mm thick should be sufficient to realistically TIG weld..... and then just pray it's food/grapefruit-safe.
