Hey everyone! So I finally made it back to the garden after basically ignoring it since Memorial Day, and I was prepared for total disaster. Plot twist: the Ruth Stout method actually saved my bacon! The old hay mulch has been doing all the heavy lifting, keeping most weeds under control while I've been living my best grandma life. The thistle is still being a drama queen, sneaking through every tiny crack in the cardboard, and something ate all my sweet potato plants (rude!). But honestly, I'm shocked at how good everything looks considering my neglect. The pathways are a jungle because I forgot to cardboard them, but that's a future me problem. Today's mission is chop and drop therapy with my rice knife in this ridiculous Michigan heat. Who knew neglect could be so successful?
