Book illustration became an enduring artform during the Victorian era with the advent of new printing technologies, and it reached its creative and commercial peak in the early 20th century, before war and the Great Depression took its toll on the market for illustrated books. Many renowned artists got their start producing pictures for children's books and literary magazines during that Golden Age of illustration, and this video provides a brief introduction to many of them.
