Years ago one of my regular collaborator orchestras (the Golden State Pops Orchestra) was doing a concert honoring the late, magnificently great composer Jerry Goldsmith and asked if I wanted to participate. I proposed a medley based around 21 of his scores, with a huge emphasis on many lesser-known ones. We initially did it as a contest to see if any hardcore fans could name them all (and many did!).
Later I had the chance to perform this piece with the Colorado Symphony so here, in honor of this week and what would've been Jerry's 92nd birthday, is "The Gold Standard" As Noted ...
