On August 16th, 1942, the United States Navy airship, L-8 embarked on a routine anti-submarine patrol over the California coastline.
The airship, which later came to be known as the Ghost Blimp eventually ran aground. However, no traces of its crewmen, Lieutenant Ernest DeWitt Cody and Ensign Charles Adams have ever been found. What actually happened over the Pacific Ocean that day remains a mystery. One that continues to confound people more than 80 years later. #GhostBlimp #L8 #SlappedHamMysteries
