In this video, we explore the reason why so many studios are shutting down. We examine the history of larger corporations buying up smaller studios like BioWare, Pandemic, and Visceral Games. We look at how important it is to own IPs, as seen with Tencent buying Riot for League of Legends and Microsoft buying Mojang for Minecraft.
Lastly, we examine why studios get shut down despite releasing a successful game, like Tango Gameworks with Hi-Fi Rush.
