I bought the radio for $50 on eBay. It was dirty, covered in dust and had five knobs missing. But I have had several of these rigs so I know they can be resurrected. In the opening scenes you see a serrated circuit board with a couple of jumpers. This Galaxy V was missing the VOX and when no VOX you need the factory dummy plug for the socket. No dummy plug No transmit.
Well when you know stuff --you can do stuff. I fabricated the plug in board using my manual mill.
The S meter wasn't working -- replacing a couple of out of tolerance resistors fixed that issue.
Now the transmit part is intermittent. At time 150 watts out and other time only 5. I have cleaned up the relays and all the tubes tested good. So I am thinking a coupling capacitor. That is on tomorrow's list.
