To help advocate for an expansion of our long-running conversations around reality and NHI contact, consciousness and latent human capacity, I’ll be posting a series of video essays to help foster self-examination and perhaps a rethinking of our collective priorities.
A man can hope, anyway. Given where we’re at as a species and where we appear to be headed, this is my attempt to actually do something other than scroll the social media sites and fret about the day’s unending injustices.

It’s clear now to many that our human project has run aground, with the evolution of culture and society now taking a permanent backseat to the economic and technological project that drives almost every human endeavor.
Cash is King, whatever the Donald tells himself. And whatever his failings, however vast, he’s more a symptom than the primary cause. He’s the metastasized outcome of our dwindling spirit.
Individual human lives, their well-being and progress in the face of mounting existential angst and fear, have ceased to matter.
Meaningless and vapid obsessions with ego and form strip us of community and care, dumbing down our species and addicting us to the light show and porn parade that is increasingly our primary online experience.
We become the content we imbibe. Take a long look at today’s average media diet and tell me: Does this paint a pretty picture of our future?
Through Neon Galactic, I’ve spent the past two years investigating the visionary experience and frontier thinking of many brilliant folks, almost all of whom accept that humans know way less than we pretend, and that lack of humility leads to self-destruction.
How do we change that dynamic?
How do we regain responsibility for the arc of our lives and experience, endeavoring to improve and evolve toward a more empathetic, love-led, meaning-filled mode of being?
How can we rethink our slavish addiction to gadgets and processing power, spectacle and lies, the endlessly affirming but provably false self-talk that pretends self-inquiry and service are moral or financial failings?
How do we pivot from pugilistic profit and self-worship to a renewed sense of the sacred without at the same time falling victim once again to superstition, dogmatic authoritarianism, and religiosity?
If I’ve learned anything from these countless conversations and interviews I’ve conducted, it’s that the universe is somehow alive and aware, wanting us to wake up to our role as part of this miraculous and ever-unfolding entity that is our shared reality.
We are a fundamental part, perhaps the thinking part, of a planetary being, solar logos, galactic bug, however you describe it. We belong, and we are necessary.
Until we take that kind of ownership, extend the same care we apply to ourselves and families to the whole of creation, we’ll be forever falling short of the role we’ve been given to fill.
None of this depends on metaphysics. It’s true whether or not you buy into transcendent or spiritual possibilities. We are part of the universal body, whether as mole, freckle, tumor, or brain.
We have to become the stewards of this planet, keepers of that mind, or we’ll be shaken off like fleas in the dog bath, one dead critter at a time.
