I watched OpenAI's video where former lead Apple designer and founder of io Jony Ive spoke with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman about the $6.5 billion purchase of io by OpenAI. Sam and Jony have been working for two years developing prototypes for a family of personal devices that would harness the power of ChatGPT and Sora to democratize the ability to make whatever you want a reality for people all over the world. While Sam and Jony didn't provide details about the prototype products, they did talk about their vision for the future of AI and what that means for "legacy technology" like desktop and notebook computers. How will a "magic intelligence in the cloud" empower billions to do things that previously weren't possible.
In this video I'm reacting to what this could mean not only for the future of the personal computer but the future of video editing as well. Will it go extinct or is AI simply going to enhance the craft? What do you think?
