The future of quantum technology: Briefing in Washington, D.C.  @UChicago

The U.S. may be at a “Sputnik moment” in quantum science, innovation and application, and the Midwest is vital to quantum’s future. A July 24 briefing in Washington, D.C., including leaders from the University of Chicago, as well as leaders in government, research and industry, explored how this transformational technology will play a vital role in U.S. economic growth, competitiveness and national security. The event also highlighted why continued government-industry-university partnerships and investments in quantum research and technology are critical to the country’s future. The briefing at the Capitol included remarks from: UChicago President Paul Alivisatos; Nadya Mason, Dean of the UChicago Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering and Interim Vice President for Science, Innovation, and Partnerships; U.S. Sen, Todd Young; Paul Dabbar, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce; Prof. Mark Saffman of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Prof. Brian DeMarco of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It also featured a panel discussion with Chicago Quantum Exchange CEO Kate Timmerman and leaders of several quantum-focused companies.
