Full Sail graduate Devan Renea shares how she built a career in television writing, from earning a coveted Television Academy Foundation internship to writing for Warner Bros. Television, OWN, DC Universe, and Freeform.
After completing her third Full Sail degree, Devan launched her career in Hollywood, serving as an assistant to the showrunner on multiple series for OWN before working as a writer's assistant for DC Universe and Freeform. She later became a staff writer on the Warner Bros. Television-produced drama series ‘Delilah’ and most recently served as script coordinator for ‘Mike,’ the biographical series about Mike Tyson.
Beyond her work in television, Devan is the founder and CEO of Boss Up Productions, mentors aspiring storytellers, and teaches screenwriting through Kids in the Spotlight, a nonprofit serving foster youth.
In this interview, Devan discusses breaking into the television industry, building a career as a writer, and the experiences that helped shape her journey in entertainment.
