Full Sail graduate Mark Diaz shares his journey from military service to leading gameplay programming teams on some of the biggest games in the industry.
After serving as a Petty Officer 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy, Mark began his game development career as a Gameplay Programmer at id Software, where he spent eight years helping create award-winning titles including ‘DOOM,’ ‘DOOM VFR,’ ‘DOOM Eternal,’ and The Ancient Gods DLC.
Mark later joined Insomniac Games as a Lead Gameplay Programmer, contributing to ‘Marvel's Spider-Man 2’ and ‘Marvel's Wolverine.’ Throughout his career, he has also represented major game studios at industry events including E3, PAX, and QuakeCon.
In this interview, Mark discusses gameplay programming, leadership, breaking into AAA game development, and the experiences that helped shape his career in the video game industry.
