Another absolutely knackered print from my collection. The colour is almost totally gone but made it a little more watchable by burying the red levels.
I've been using these short daters as something of a calibration test for the scanner so the uploads will probably slow down a little bit for a while as I focus on quality and longer pieces and make some tweaks to the scanner, especially the focus system.
You may have noticed the phantom reupload, I tried a couple of things in the output stage to try and ramp up the quality but as damaged film scans are noisy videos YouTube compression really goes to town on the clips. They may get better after further processing time.

From what I can gather this clip is theatre patrons arriving for the evening, being interviewed by the Herald Newsreel and being told that the footage they are appearing in was to be rushed through processing and then projected at interval later that same night. Probably a technically impressive novelty at the time.
Although this is an unknown year. Gladys Moncrieff being interviewed at 0:29 looks of a similar age to another clip from 1930 so guessing early/mid 1930s.")

During its life roughly the first minute has gone missing and it has been treated with a chemical which has caused some discolouration but it is still a powerful piece of film. I will be uploaded a 1:85 crop with colour correction. There is actually quite a bit still in there behind the red.

An unfortunate example of the permanent and widespread damage a couple of drops of liquid can do to a roll of film. I believe this one was already like this when I got it.
Correct storage is important!

Im 99% sure the weird colour shifting in places is a result of the old computer power supply the scanner uses slowly dying. It sometimes causes the LED backlights to pulse. Its on the list...")
