While Melbourne was sleeping, the very first test trains entered the Metro Tunnel.

Two next-generation high-capacity metro trains travelled 1.7km from South Yarra to Anzac Station, directly under St Kilda Road.

It’s the first step as we kick off a rigorous program of testing trains and systems in the tunnels and stations throughout 2023 and into 2024.

All to ensure we can run safe and reliable Metro Tunnel passenger services in 2025.
