I went to buy my mom a Fire TV Cube this morning and it was $200. Then the Stick was up. Then the 4K Plus. Then every single Fire TV on the page.
Roku went up. Apple TV went up. This one is worse — and it's not close. The Vega models got smaller hits. The Android ones got crushed: 4K Plus +40% to $70, 4K Max +42% to $85.99, Cube +43% to $199.99. That Cube is now the same price as an Nvidia Shield TV Pro in the US.
Amazon's line is a memory and storage shortage. Translation: AI data centers are eating the RAM. Then Andy Jassy told investors Amazon is putting $220 billion into those same AI data centers this year. So they're driving the shortage and charging you for it — and the Android boxes took the biggest jump, which sure looks like a shove toward Vega.
