The Mattel Aquarius may not have been the most successful home computer of the 1980s, but it still has plenty of charm. In this video I demonstrate the classic 10 PRINT maze program running on a real Aquarius.
Using a single line of BASIC code, the Aquarius continuously generates a random maze pattern on the screen. Similar versions of this program have appeared on many classic computers including the Commodore 64, TRS-80, Sinclair ZX81, and others.
Program shown in the video:
10 PRINT CHR$(202+16*INT(RND(1)*2)); : GOTO 10
The Aquarius uses its own character set, with the forward and backward slash graphics located at character positions 202 and 218, making it perfect for creating this endless maze effect.
