There seems to be a period between Mary Pickford’s departure from Biograph in late 1910 and the Gish sisters’ appearance in 1912 where D.W. Griffith experimented with a number of different leading ladies. One of these was Dorothy Bernard. Appearing in a number of Griffith’s films between 1908 and 1912, she shows up more than a few times as a leading lady, like in this rare short from 1911. Enjoy it here with my accompaniment!
