Genomes are incredibly complex biomolecules that themselves specify the instructions for staggeringly complicated protein complexes. A major question in evolutionary biology is: how did such complexity emerge? For nearly a century, it has been maintained that Darwinian selection is the main driver of genomic complexity. In this video, we explore alternatives.
