In fact, it’s stronger than what we have for some other works of ancient literature whose authorship no one seriously questions.
Would it be nice to step into a time machine and ask the authors directly? Of course. But history doesn’t work that way.
Historians weigh the evidence, compare competing explanations, and identify the one that best accounts for the data — while holding their conclusions with humility, knowing they could be wrong.
That’s the approach I take to Gospel authorship.
