So your relationship fails and you choose to laugh instead of cry, you decide to shrug your shoulders rather than slamming a door. This was my visualisation throughout the writing and production of ‘Dead in the Water’ its tongue in cheek lyrically, its a shrugging of the shoulder rather than a slammed door. Its taking the high road, its not giving a F, its refusing to be consumed by something that's already out of your control.
Because the truth is, we never really have as much control as
we think we do. We can't stop what's going to happen, but we can choose how we respond. We roll the dice and deal with the numbers, with a reflective clarity of ‘you know what he really just wasn’t right for me, nothing more than that’.
From the opening guitar that sounds like a jet engine tearing through the speakers, Dead in the Water doesn't take itself too seriously. But beneath the humour and bravado there is a strong sense of self
"So I'll get drunk and wait for a miracle. Time will tell if this is a healable scar."
Part acceptance, part defiance, and entirely unapologetic, 'Dead in the Water’ is about finding peace in the chaos and learning to laugh when life doesn't go to plan.
