For more than 80 years, Sunderland Eye Infirmary stood on Queen Alexandra Road and became part of the lives of generations of Sunderland families.
But now, the doors are closed.
In this video, I had to go back to the old Sunderland Eye Infirmary and look at the history, memories and stories behind the building that meant so much to people of Sunderland before finding out what has happened to eye care in the city.
The Sunderland Specialist Eye Hospital has now opened at Riverside Sunderland, marking the beginning of a new chapter for specialist eye care in the city.
But what was the old Eye Infirmary really like?
What memories do people have of it?
