Welcome Friends, welcome back to the kitchen! In today’s episode of What Was on Sale at the Grocery Store, I found a 2.5 kg brisket for just over $9 CAD—a deal I couldn't pass up. Instead of the usual tacos, I decided to make a slow cooker pot roast—perfect comfort food for a cold January day.
I loaded up the slow cooker with red onions, mushrooms, beef stock, garlic paste, paprika, horseradish, and my secret umami booster: Marmite and made a Buerre Manié for a silky-smooth gravy. No need to brown the meat—just set it, forget it, and let it cook low and slow for 8 to 10 hours.
Once done, we paired it with crispy roast potatoes and my famous Yorkshire puddings. This is an easy, budget-friendly meal that’s packed with flavour and will last us for days!
