This is kind of a vent y'all, can I be vulnerable for a moment?




I lost my job today. "Company restructuring", so all editors there got laid off. I've been working professionally as a video editor for almost 10 years now, and I've tied a lot of my identity to that. So to be unmoored again (I just got this job 4 years ago after layoffs at my LAST job)...it's disheartening.

I've dreamed of working on editing for a feature film for a while now, but that feels further away than ever. Like a pipe dream of a pipe dream. It'll probably never happen at this point, and some days that really crushes me. I'm almost 33 and it feels too late.

Anyway, I've been feeling very creatively unfulfilled for the past year, but this movie helped bring some of it back. I edited this, I'm writing for the first time in a decade. I just want to make things, put them out into the ether, and hope it impacts at least one person.

I hope this trend of independent films getting mainstream success continues, and that new faces in the industry keep getting chances to bring their visions to life. Good job Mark, proud of you.
