At long last, I have finally broken my personal record again! This setup contains 6,348 dominoes, and I think this is probably the best video I've made in a while. I hope you enjoy your journey through the Domino Metropolis!
Working on this was quite an experience haha. I’ve been planning to make a new PR for a while now, but I never really put it into effect until now. My mom graciously allowed me to use the room for a month or two, and she even let me move the computer and the big chair out of the room, so I’d have even more room. Work on the setup started in early August. Funny thing, I originally had the white table in the back of the room instead of the front, and I had a section composed entirely of old Domino Rally dominoes under it. And let me tell you, building under a table with old Domino Rally dominoes (the ones with the little bump on the bottom that annoy me to no end) was one of the most agonizing experiences I’ve ever had with dominoes lol. I got it done, but the amount of minor topples I had under the table was painful to say the least, and just building that one part took about 2 weeks of inconsistent work. In early September I filled some more space... and then the one major fail that I had during the building process occurred, and oh boy was it something. During the weeks I was building, there was heavy construction work happening very close to my house. And on one day, the construction work must have been really really stinking heavy because it sent actual vibrations through the floor. The dominoes on the floor didn’t budge, but the table was somewhat unstable, and one leaning domino toppled... and you can probably guess what happened next. I wasn’t even in the room when it fell, and by the time I got to the setup, it was too late to stop it. Most of the stuff on and under the table fell, and so did some of the stuff around it, although luckily the stuff around the desk stayed standing. So yeah, thanks construction workers. In total I’d estimate about 1,000 dominoes fell, which could’ve been a lot worse, but this was crushing when it happened. I had suffered for such a long time with the Domino Rally dominoes only for it to all be for nothing. This accident killed a lot of my motivation to keep working on the setup, and for the next few weeks I didn’t get much done, aside from removing the table, since I did NOT want to deal with the stuff under it again, and also I didn’t want to risk a second vibration related mishap. So the setup basically just sat there for a couple weeks, although I’m pretty sure that I did build the finale structure in that time. And trust me, after you’ve had one accidental topple and you leave a setup standing for a month, the paranoia really starts to kick in. Every time the construction workers were active outside, I was really nervous that something else could fall at any time. After a while, my mom said that my time for having a monopoly on the building room was running out, and that I’d have to finish the setup within a week. At that point, I decided not to make it a pr setup and decided to just fill part of the space and call it a day. And then on the final day, I spontaneously decided that as long as I had the space, I might as well go for the new record. So during that day, I built a LOT. I literally filled the entire empty half of the room to make up for the lost time, and right at the end I even decided to add the table back in to give the setup a bit more height, and because the construction work was done for the day so I had nothing to worry about. Near the end of the day I was getting pretty stressed that I wouldn’t be able to finish in time, and I had to really rush some of the stuff near the front of the room. That’s why a lot of the sections beneath and around the table seem a bit messier than the other stuff. I finished at around 11:00, and by that time, after building for literally 5 or 6 straight hours, I was REALLY tired. And so, at almost midnight, I finally knocked it down. And... the falldown didn’t really go well lol. The setup had like 9 or 10 fails, which is frankly pretty predictable if you’ve seen my other videos haha. Most of the fails just came from weird flukes in tricks probably caused by rushed building, although there were a couple of really dumb mistakes I made, like thinking the platform could pull down the marble run. Despite the awful falldown, I still think this turned out pretty well. I’m a bit disappointed by the bad falldown and by the lack of structures (I had to rush to get it done so I didn’t really build many structures) but still, I’m pretty proud of it. If you look past the fails, then I think this is easily one of my best videos yet, and I’m glad that I could finally break my pr again. Thanks for watching!
