Polinas Pages | The Discomfort of Evening by Marieke Lucas Rijneveld. In depth discussion: from fluids to grief. @PolinasPages | Uploaded August 2021 | Updated October 2024, 12 hours ago.
An indepth discussion of the 2020 International Booker Prize Winner- The Discomfort of Evening by Marieke Lucas Rijneveld. Join myself and special guest Isabel to discuss some things we found particularly interesting in this book, from the metaphorical nature of Rijneveld's work to sexualization of farm animals, and the discomfort of the novel overall. This video contains spoilers for The Discomfort of Evening. It also has a lot of TW, like suicide, death, intrusive sexual acts, incest, self harm, honestly even a full list may not suffice, because this book was seriously dark, so if you're in an unstable mental health state of mind, I would advice you to not read it.

I'm so happy to have had Isabel on my channel, and I joined her for a chat about The Colour Purple a little while ago, check out the video here:
