Surah Al-Ahzab, Verse 33
....إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا.
..... Allah wishes only to remove ArRijs (evil deeds and sins, etc.) from you, O members of the family (of the Prophet SAW), and to purify you with a thorough purification.
Hadith
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " حُسَيْنٌ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْ حُسَيْنٍ أَحَبَّ اللَّهُ مَنْ أَحَبَّ حُسَيْنًا حُسَيْنٌ سِبْطٌ مِنَ الأَسْبَاطِ
Narrated Ya'la bin Murrah:
that the Messenger pbuh of Allah said: "Husain is from me, and I am from Husain. Allah loves whoever loves Husain. Husain is a Sibt among the Asbat." [Asbat, plural of Sibt: A great tribe. Meaning, Al-Husain would have many offspring, such that they would become a great tribe. And this has indeed occurred. See Tuhfat Al-Ahwadhi (4/341).

Rabee'ah bin Shaiban said: I said to al-Husain bin 'Ali: Do you remember anything from the Messenger of Allah (saw)? He said: I climbed up to a room with him and took a date and put it in my mouth, but the Prophet (saw) said: "Take it out, for charity is not permissible for us."
Musnad Ahmad vol 2, Hadith 1731
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يُؤْتَى بِالتَّمْرِ عِنْدَ صِرَامِ النَّخْلِ فَيَجِيءُ هَذَا بِتَمْرِهِ وَهَذَا مِنْ تَمْرِهِ حَتَّى يَصِيرَ عِنْدَهُ كَوْمًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ، فَجَعَلَ الْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ يَلْعَبَانِ بِذَلِكَ التَّمْرِ، فَأَخَذَ أَحَدُهُمَا تَمْرَةً، فَجَعَلَهَا فِي فِيهِ، فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَأَخْرَجَهَا مِنْ فِيهِ فَقَالَ " أَمَا عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ آلَ مُحَمَّدٍ صلى الله عليه وسلم لاَ يَأْكُلُونَ الصَّدَقَةَ.

Abu Huraira reported that Hasan b. 'Ali took one of The dates of the sadaqa and put it in his mouth, whereupon the Prophet said:
Leave it, leave it, throw it; don't you know that we do not eat the sadaqa?

Abu Rabiah binAl-Harith said to 'Abdul-Muttalib bin Rabi'ah bin Al-Harith and Al-Fadl bin 'Abbas bin 'Abdul-Muttalib:
"Go to the Messenger of Allah and say to him: 'O Messenger of Allah, appoint us to collect the Sadaqat!' 'Ali bin Abi Talib came along when we were like that, and he said to them: "The Messenger of Allah will not appoint any of you to collect the Sadaqah."' 'Abdul-Muttalib said: "So I went with Al-Fadl until we came to the Messenger of Allah and he said to us: "This Zakah is the dirt of the people, and it is not permissible for Muhammad or for the family (Ahlul Bait) of Muhammad."'
Sunan an-Nasa'i 2609
قَالَ - ثُمَّ قَالَ " إِنَّ الصَّدَقَةَ لاَ تَنْبَغِي لآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ . إِنَّمَا هِيَ أَوْسَاخُ النَّاسِ ادْعُوَا لِي مَحْمِيَةَ - وَكَانَ عَلَى الْخُمُسِ - وَنَوْفَلَ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ " . قَالَ فَجَاءَاهُ فَقَالَ لِمَحْمِيَةَ " أَنْكِحْ هَذَا الْغُلاَمَ ابْنَتَكَ " . لِلْفَضْلِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَأَنْكَحَهُ وَقَالَ لِنَوْفَلِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ " أَنْكِحْ هَذَا الْغُلاَمَ ابْنَتَكَ " . لِي فَأَنْكَحَنِي وَقَالَ لِمَحْمِيَةَ " أَصْدِقْ عَنْهُمَا مِنَ الْخُمُسِ كَذَا وَكَذَا "
... And he then also said: Verily these sadaqat are the impurities (dirt) of people, and they are not permissible for Muhammad (saw), and for the family (Ahlul Bait) of Muhammad. And he also said: The Messenger of Allah also said to me: Call Mahmiya b. Jaz', and he was person from Banu Asad. and the Messenger of Allah had appointed him as a collector of khums....
Sahih Muslim 1072 b
Allah's Messenger (saw) stood up to deliver sermon at a watering place known as Khumm situated between Mecca and Medina. He praised Allah, extolled Him and delivered the sermon and exhorted (us) and said: Now to our purpose. O people, I am a human being. I am about to receive a messenger (the angel of death) from my Lord and I, in response to Allah's call, (would bid good-bye to you), but I am leaving among you two weighty things: the one being the Book of Allah in which there is right guidance and light, so hold fast (do not go astray) to the Book of Allah and adhere to it and then said: The second are the members of my household (Ahlul Bait) I remind you (of your duties) to the members of my family. I remind you, I remind you! They will not dissent (will not separate) until they return to me at the Lake-Fount or Pond of Abundance or Fountain (Kawthar), so look at how you treat (deal) with them after me.
