Soulcalibur was and still is a great 3D fighting franchise. To be 100% honest, the game has only truly fallen in sales, I would think, and popularity. Soulcalibur 1 was, and possibly still is, the bestselling game on the Dreamcast, so to become so stiff and unrecognizable by people is saddening at best.
I've gone over these games, 2 of which I'm very familiar with, and been honest with myself. I don't think 4 or 5 contributed meaningfully enough to the franchise, and indeed failed to grasp a foothold in esports early like other fighting game franchises have, thus killing their long term support potential. Hopefully this is rectified by Soulcalibur 6, which looks and feels amazing.
