The Deceiver is a Mountain in the lands of the Dwarves named for the tricky weather patterns it creates. The Dwarves built a Rack Railway to a watchtower on the summit running over a north-south oriented ridge. This line gets battered hideously by the wind during storms. Normally the railway closes during storms like this, but once there was an emergency at the summit watchtower during such a storm. The engine and it's crew battled the dangerous gale for several minutes before reaching the summit and delivering aid. The emergency soon passed out of memory, but the heroic journey by the engine and her crew was never forgotten.
This piece was inspired by the Railway Series No. 19, Mountain Engines. Specifically, the story Devil's Back. This is, in my opinion the most epic story of the series and I have early memories of my father reading Devil's Back and the rest of the stories in that book to me when I was 2 and still in my crib. To compose this, I actually went and looked up the Willie Rushton audiobook recording and composed against that, just as if I was making a soundtrack.
I am terribly sorry about the AI trains. AI cannot make trains well at all, and forget about a fantasy Rack Railway. However, the impressionistic style I asked for does look really cool, and I'll need to experiment with it more in future.
