Sometimes music is good. Sometimes it is not. Back in 2012 and 2013, the time of dubstep, everyone was jumping on the train to create something new. I had a fair share of success, but in all the successes there were multiple failures.

For track #1 (this track), there were a lot of amazing components. The original synths and the little plucks were great. Everything stood well on its own, but after smashing everything together it just sounded like a terrible Frankenstein that nothing fit well into. All the wobbles and wubs just never came together in any kind of cohesive motion to work together. It was this track in particular that made me understand that complex sound design is required to gel separate sounds together appropriately. Mixing and mastering was terrible. Maximus was on the master channel and it was just a preset I had tampered with a little bit. During this time I was heavily learning proper mixing and mastering. This was a huge step up from my previous tracks, but all the components were spread so far in the mix and all over the place that I eventually decided to stop working on it. Later, I released "Bipolar", a complextro-type track with far better mixing, sound design, which went on to become this track's successor! Check it out here: youtube.com/watch?v=fcager8bk0w. Shortly after that, "Resonate" came about. All the lessons learned from this failed track were applied to the next two attempts.

The Death of a Music Track Series is a new original series I'm going to be producing videos for. Often artists show the big hits that made them famous, but what about the ones they'll never tell anyone about? What about those tracks that sound like they're going somewhere but you lose focus and overmix, overmaster, or just straight up ruin? These are those tracks. It's important to note that I'm okay with receiving negative criticism about these tracks - they're years and years old, some over a decade. Be kind to those perfecting their craft, for one day, they'll be extremely good at it!
