📜 The Dead Sea Scrolls: 2,000 Years Later, Still Accurate!
Did you know that actual scrolls of the Bible written over 2,000 years ago still exist today? These incredible artifacts, known as the Dead Sea Scrolls, take us back 100–200 years before the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ and confirm how accurately God’s Word has been preserved through the centuries.
✨ In 1946, a Bedouin shepherd searching for a lost goat near the Qumran caves by the Dead Sea accidentally discovered what would become one of the greatest archaeological finds of all time. He tossed a rock into a cave and heard pottery shatter. Inside were seven well-preserved scrolls, including the Isaiah Scroll, which contains all 66 chapters of Isaiah on a 24-foot-long scroll. When compared to modern copies, it was found to be nearly identical, with only minor spelling differences—a testament to the incredible care of the scribes who copied the Scriptures with precision.
Since that first discovery, thousands of fragments and additional scrolls have been recovered from nearby caves, further confirming the historical accuracy and preservation of the Bible.
I’ve personally had the rare privilege of searching these caves and standing inside cave #4, looking out over the Dead Sea. At the Wonders Center, you can see the photograph I took from inside that cave, letting you experience the same view for yourself.
