The de Havilland Dragon Rapide was possibly the most successful British-built short-haul commercial passenger aircraft to be produced during the 1930s. It was regularly used in Orkney by Captain Ted Fresson’s Highland Airways and was still used by BEA well into the 1950s. Aviation historian Iain Hutchison tells the story of the aircraft.
