160 years ago today, on April 2nd 1862, General George B. McClellan arrived at Fort Monroe on the USS Commodore to join the Army of the Potomac on the tip of the Virginia Peninsula. Today he will meet with Flag Officer Goldsborough to discuss cooperation with the US Navy. He also convenes his corps commanders to review the plan of attack against Yorktown, due to begin in just two days.
