This is the story of a huge unexploded bomb. A shipwreck, sat on the sea bed at the mouth of the Thames Estuary with thousands of tonnes of TNT on board.
The SS Richard Montgomery is an american Liberty Ship that sank in WW2, taking unbelievable amount of explosives and munitions down with her.
If the unexploded ordinance never explodes, then this is nothing more than an interesting anecdote for the thousands of people living in Sheerness and the Isle of Sheppey.
But what if it does explode? A huge tsunami, a tidal wave, overpowering the Thames Barrier and heading straight for the UK's capital city, London. A disaster, just waiting to happen.
