The Danish Government House was erected in 1771 by the Danish Head of Serampore Johan Leonard Fix, in place of the previous government house, a smaller mud and wattle construction that collapsed during a dinner party in 1770. West Bengal Heritage Commission began restoration of the stately building in 2008.
