Kakuma Refugee Camp is located in the North-Western region of Kenya, and was opened in 1992 to house the 16,000 “lost” girls and boys fleeing the war from Sudan. Now it is the world’s largest refugee camp, with over 200,000 people living there. After interviewing many of the queer refugees at camp, it seems the life in Kakuma for the LGBTQIA+ is anything but a refuge.
